Today’s Black History Month spotlight is on Hattie McDaniel. In 1940, Hattie McDaniel became the first Black person to win an Oscar, for her supporting role in Gone With the Wind.
Students…the weather is getting warmer, and that means kids are bringing out clothing that hasn’t been worn for several months. You have grown, and what might have fit last year, is not going to fit as well now. With that, we are beginning to see clothing worn to school that is not appropriate. As a reminder of our dress code, we should not be seeing shirts that show your midriff (belly). Also, volleyball shorts (spandex) are not appropriate for the school day. Shorts need to cover your body. Another new trend is sagging pants that expose underwear. Please refrain from wearing clothes that are not school-appropriate. If you are seen wearing these, you will be asked to change your clothing. You can wear your PE clothes, ask a parent to bring you something to wear, or go to the Trojan Depot to find clothing that is appropriate for school. If you are asked to change, please do not act disrespectful or surprised. Allow this announcement to be considered your warning.
