Please read the following letter pertaining to our state testing (Illinois Assessment of Readiness). The dates for testing at Charleston Middle School are April 7th, 8th, 9th, 12th, and 13th. Charleston Middle School had technical difficulties with the Illinois Science Assessment(ISA) browser today. For that reason, 8th grade students will be testing on Tuesday-Thursday for the ISA. This is a required state standardized test that requires that all students taking the test must take the test in person. For that reason, we are asking that your child be present at school for the testing windows. Below you will find the testing dates and times that your child needs to be present for each team. Your child will need to bring in their computer for this assessment.
8 Red- Tuesday, March 30th; Wednesday, March 31st; and Thursday, April 1st
9:45-10:55 A.M each day
8 Gold- Tuesday, March 30th; Wednesday, March 31st; and Thursday, April 1st
8:45-9:47 A.M each day
We realize that remote students will need time to travel from school back home and will allow time for them to return home to join their next class remotely. If students were to miss a session, our first make-up session will be scheduled for Tuesday April 6th at 8:45 A.M.

Hello parents. With mitigations improving, we are proceeding with athletic team and non-athletic group pictures. These pictures will be taken on Monday, March 29, during the school day. Uniforms will be handed back out on that day. Coaches/sponsors will let the kids know what to wear. Picture packets will be handed out this week. CMS Scholastic Bowl had its first match of the season tonight. Effingham won a thriller in the varsity match 165-160. Charleston JV won 310-90.

Students on the 8 Red team created this bulletin board along with a second image of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which is hanging in the 7th grade hallway.
In Mrs. Crome's class, students on the 7 Red Team presented their Social Studies projects using Teams on their e-learning day. These projects challenged students to show the rising conflict between Colonials and the British leading up to the Declaration of Independence. Students were to create a visual that tells the story by upcycling, recycling and using materials they already had without spending money. Their projects and presentations were amazing!
