CMS students enjoyed a fun Friday to kickoff IAR Monday. We started the day with Leader in me by meeting with 7th/8th buddies and talking about service projects. Then students had their choice to participate in an academic decathlon or a volley tennis tournament. Everyone had a great time. Congratulations to Mrs. Dow's. EPIC class for winning the volley tennis tournament for the second time this year!
As part of CMS's 1/2 Day early dismissal activities today, some 8R students enjoyed competing against each other in an Academic Decathlon in Mr. Spear's room. It is amazing how much trivia the students know! It was a fun way to end the week together before IAR testing next week.
CMS 8th graders enjoyed sharing their commercial projects created in ELA classes with snacks in the Media Center before leaving for Spring Break! There were some amazing skills displayed in these projects such as advertising techniques, technology, video editing, graphic design and more! Students used their 7 Habits skills of beginning with the end in mind, putting first things first, seeking first to understand-then to be understood and synergizing to make the finished product! #cmscusd1

CMS Scholastic Bowl team went 2-1 on the day, falling to Effingham JH, 195 - 145, in the championship round. Congratulations for earning 2nd place at the Conference Tournament in Teutopolis!
Students in Mrs. Adams' class have been learning about block coding recently. They have been writing programs that make their Sphero Bolt robots roll, light up, display emojis, and make sounds! #cmscusd1
The CMS Service Group handed out plants to CMS staff this week as part of their service plan.
Students said they wanted to do it to provide fresh air, help mental health/well-being, teach kids responsibility, and give teachers comfort.
There were some "Stranger Things" happening in the CMS IMC today! Students attending Book Bistro previewed three sets of new graphic novels based on the series coming soon to the collection! The reviews were good, and the treats were even better! #cmscusd1

Seven middle school students enjoyed Book Bistro in the CMS Media Center today. Students "tasted" new selections coming to the IMC next month and discovered they enjoyed poetry based on historical events!
8 Red students completed their first week of cooking class during WIN time. Last week’s menu consisted of dirt cups and no bake cinnamon rolls! What will be on the menu this week?
