Congratulations to the JES Girls' Basketball Team 2 for winning the championship game with a score of 8-4. Everyone worked hard and had a successful season.
Thank you to all of our coaches, school staff, team members and families for supporting the 2022 teams. #jeffersoncusd1
The holiday season is approaching quickly. Our students currently have an opportunity to give by donating to our Gift 4 Kids program. This program provides gifts to many students who would not otherwise receive one. This year we will be collecting donations of new toys, books, and clothing for students from pre-school age to 6th grade. Monetary donations will also be accepted, and items needed will be purchased with these donations.
Please consider sending in a donation with your child to school (unwrapped). Classrooms will be collecting gifts until Wednesday December 7th. Thank you for helping assist families in need.
Last week in JES Science Club we learned about density. We tried to stack low density liquid on top of a higher density liquid. While it worked in a straw, we were unsuccessful to create a rainbow in a cup. We still had fun!
Last week in JES Science Club we made magnetic slime from glue, borax, and iron filings. We learned about adhesion, magnetism, and polymers. It was messy! #jeffersoncusd1
Veterans Day is commemorated each year in honor of all servicemembers; those who have served, those currently serving, and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms of our country.
Each year, Jefferson students have an opportunity to reflect on this day through a variety of activities. Many students participated in a door decorating contest by bringing photos of loved ones who have served. Others participated by creating patriotic cards and signs to share their thanks for veterans in our community. Many students also visited the Veterans Day ceremony on Charleston’s Square and had the opportunity to hear our very own Mr. Mueller on the bugle and Mrs. Ehr and Mrs. Fraser sing “God Bless America.”
We’re proud of our students for taking the initiative to participate in such a memorable day for so many in our community. They represented Jefferson, their families, and themselves very well today!
The JES Girls’ Basketball League began its season and has seen some exciting action. This year we were pleased to have eighteen 6th graders and twenty-three 5th grades try out for the teams. The records currently have the Black Team (3 wins, 1 loss), Red Team (2 wins, 1 loss) and the Blue Team (0 wins, 3 losses). Their seems to be a good rivalry brewing between the Black and Red teams as Black won the first game 16-14 and Red won the re-match 12-10. During the second contest Red was trailing 10-2 when it went on a 10-0 run to end the game. Below are the results and top scorers from each game.
Black 16, Red 14 (Avery Hissong- 6 points)
Black 26, Blue 10 (Annie Porter- 10 points)
Red 10, Blue 4, (Sika Banini- 4 points)
Red 12, Black 10 (Keshae Cardwell- 12 points)
Black 24, Blue 5 (Mariah Banks- 12 points)
Game schedule is on the JES CUSD website. Come watch the exciting action!! #jeffersoncusd1
Last Friday Jefferson's Student Lighthouse Team had their first meeting. They worked together to create a mission statement that will guide their leadership within the school.
Last week in JES Science Club we learned about magnetism and temporary magnetism, by building a tower of hex nuts on the rim of a soda can... with the help of some ferrite magnets.

Congratulations to our JES students who were chosen to serve on the Student Lighthouse Team for the 2022-2023 school year. They submitted a strong application, received a solid faculty/staff recommendation, and their ability to explain how you will make an impact on our school helped in this decision.
The Student Lighthouse Team is a group of students representing each classroom in our school who synergize to have a positive impact on students, staff, families, and the community. #jeffersoncusd#1
