College of Education Alumni Award Nomination
The COE Alumni Awards are presented to EIU Alumni whose degree is in a program within the College of Education
Mrs. Kim Shambo recently received the Rising Star award for recipients who are within 10 years of graduation from EIU. These individuals have excelled in their field or in the career for which the COE degree prepared them.
Today Mrs. Shambo also celebrates her birthday. A very BIG Happy Birthday Mrs. Shambo!!

Mrs. King and Mrs. Golden's classroom took a trip to tour the Charleston Fire Department for fire safety month. The students toured the station, a fire engine, and an ambulance. They also experienced a test page and seen some of the tools that are used at fire scenes. Thank you, Charleston Fire Department!!!! #JeffersonCUSD1

The PE Jefferson Fall Olympics ended last week. Coach and Mr. Stallard want to thank the students for their efforts and sportsmanship. The main events were hula hoop races and scooter races.
There was one winner from each grade. The winners are:
4th Grade - Mrs. Ehr class
5th Grade- Mrs. Richeson class
6th Grade- Mrs. Schmidt class
Congratulations to all the winners. For winning each class will get a popsicle party.

Last Friday Mrs. Goldens class took a trip to the to the EIU Bowling Alley as an incentive. During their time at the bowling alley, the students learned to work together as a team but also how to compete respectfully with each other.
At the beginning of September, JES students participated in a fundraiser for our PTA. JES students are so wonderful and did their part that there was a Glow in the Dark incentive!! Friday September 20th was our " Day of Awesomeness". Here is a short video of all the fun! Thank you PTA!!!!

Mrs. Cline’s fifth grade math students worked on a challenge contest problem today to determine possible combinations for coloring circles with 3 different marker colors and each adjacent circle had to be a different color. #JeffersonCUSD1
On September 4th, Mrs. King's and Mrs. Golden's classrooms took a tour of the courthouse in Charleston. The classes had been learning about voting and being a leader. Judge Bower showed them around. He then spoke to the classes about running for office and about the courtroom. Mrs. Coe answered some questions about voting requirements. Thank you both! #JeffersonCUSD1

Jefferson recognized the students who made the most growth on their reading and math MAP tests this year! Because growth is a team effort, their entire class got to have a celebration in honor of their classmate's achievement. Way to go JES students! #jeffersoncusd1
