There are two parts to the registration process for Charleston CUSD#1. Part 1 has some specific forms and documents for your student relative to the grade/building they will be attending. In addition, all children need to have the appropriate health and immunization records. Part 2 of the registration process is online registration through Skyward. Online Registration for the 2024-2025 school year opens up on Monday, July 8, 2024.

If your child is new to Charleston Schools, then you will need to fill out a new student form specific to the building the student will attend and contact that school to make an appointment with the Registrar. Once this is completed, you will be able to proceed with online registration through Skyward Family Access.

2. Click on the individual links to view/print out the applicable documents for your student(s).

3. Some documents may need to be manually filled out and returned to your student's school(s).

4. Any questions regarding building-specific paperwork should be directed to those individual school(s).

Health/Immunizations

Here is a list of all the required vaccinations for child care facilities, preschool, early childhood, pre-kindergarten, and grades K-12 for students entering school during the 2024-2025 school year.

Physical, dental, and vision exams are needed for students entering certain grades. These forms must be printed, completed by your doctor, and returned to the Nurse's Office in your student's school.

• Dental Exam -Needed for students going into Kindergarten, 2nd, 6th, & 9th Grades

• Vision Exam -Needed for Kindergarten students and any student new to Illinois

If your student has other health conditions such as Allergies, Diabetes, Seizures, or Asthma, please fill out the appropriate Health Condition Forms.

Additional Charleston CUSD#1 Information

A Skyward family access account is needed to officially register your child. If you do not have a family access account with Skyward or have forgotten your username and/or password, please contact your child's school directly or send a message to Education Data Systems. *Be sure to include the name(s) of your student(s) and school(s) they will be attending. For those who need assistance or do not have access to a computer, please call or visit your child's school weekdays between 7:00am - 3:00pm to receive help with this process. You can also contact district staff at (217) 639-1000. This Online Registration How-To Guide explains the steps you will be completing below in more detail. As you register, please take time to review all information in each step to verify that it is complete and accurate.

1. Log into Skyward

   • Use a web browser rather than the Skyward App to successfully complete online registration.

2. Select the Online Registration tab.

3. Complete each step and be sure to save & submit as you go.

4. The fee waiver application is an optional step that allows qualifying families to get their school fees waived.

5. The bus form has 2 parts: Everyone is required to complete the first part answering whether or not your child will need transportation. Only those that answer 'YES' should complete the 2nd page of the bus form.

6. Once you have completed all of the steps, you will have the option to pay your fees online using e-Funds or pay in-person at any of our school buildings/district office. (Please keep in mind Mark Twain & Ashmore school offices are closed for the summer until office staff return to work on July 24, 2024.)

7. Be sure to click SUBMIT at the end when you are finished with all of the required steps.

  • e-Funds for Schools is an online payment system that ties into Skyward. You can read more about e-Funds here.

    You'll first need to locate your Family ID in Skyward so that you can enter that number when creating your e-Funds for Schools account.

• When will I know what teacher(s) or schedule my student will have?

  • Schedules/Teachers will not be visible in Skyward Family Access until later dates in August.

    • Charleston High School & Charleston Middle School: Friday, August 2nd after 4:00pm

      • Passwords for all CMS/CHS students will be reset, so only parents/guardians will be able to login to check.

    • All Elementary Schools (JES, AES, CSES, & MTES): Friday, August 9th after 4:00pm

  • All school fees must either be paid in full, or families can submit the optional fee-waiver form during online registration. Schedules will remain hidden for students who still owe fees/do not have a current waiver on file or have not yet completed online registration.
