
Tomorrow's theme is "Exercise Your Mind with Books!" for Read Across America Week at Carl Sandburg! Students can wear exercise or sports clothing that fit within our school's dress code. The family activity for tomorrow night is to learn the Cha Cha Slide and have a dance party!


The Read Across America Week theme at Carl Sandburg for Wednesday is "Read My Shirt!" Please have your student wear a shirt with words on so we can be reading ALL DAY! The family activity is to design the paper t-shirt using the 4 buttons your student picked out last week.


Tuesday is Dr. Seuss' birthday and we are celebrating at Carl Sandburg by dressing up as a favorite Dr. Seuss character or wearing red and white! The packet includes some fun Dr' Seuss inspired recipes to try as a family ...enjoy!

Carl Sandburg Families...Read Across America Week begins tomorrow! The theme for Monday is "Hats Off to Reading!" so please have students wear a hat to school and enjoy the hat guessing game as a family in the packets the students brought home last week!

Students in Mrs. Coffey’s third grade class researched and completed biography posters. They dressed up as the person they researched when they presented the posters.

Third graders at Carl Sandburg Elementary sent virtual valentines to children at St. Jude's Hospital.


Third graders in Mrs. Bosler's hybrid classroom just finished a biography on Helen Keller. Their student teacher, Caroline Kirchmer who is fluent in sign language, shared some signs with the students as a culminating activity.




February 1, 2021 kicked off Black History month at Carl Sandburg. Students shared famous quotes during our virtual morning meetings, that connected to important African Americans in history. Some staff shared picture books, such as Martin Luther King Jr’s life and discussed the peaceful change he wanted for the world.
